SSAT tests are, by far, the most important exams in a teenager’s life. And, since they can open you the road to a higher learning institution or a more reputed college, it comes as no surprise why plenty of parents push their children hard to learn and pass these exams. However, when it comes to learning and preparing for an exam, no teenager is similar to another; each of them represents an individual entity, learning through their own capacities, and on their own terms. But, even so, there are plenty of tips and tricks your child can find useful whenever preparing for his or her big SSAT tests. Here is what you should take into consideration for your future SSAT prep:

1.      Practice will make you perfect, in the end Although there is an entire road ahead before reaching perfection, quitting is not an option. Consider your SSAT prep the first milestone of your future career, and think about the future recognition you would achieve if you pass the tests now. Stick to a tight learning schedule, at least 5-6 months prior to the test. Avoid any useless complications, and do not get distracted from practicing or learning for your SSATs. Although parties and leisure time are allowed once in a while, just make sure you do not lose the rhythm of studying. And, if you consider this is tough, it is only the beginning – the real struggle will begin in college!

2.      Take practice tests Appealing to practice SSAT test is a wonderful form to keep in shape, and to learn exactly what your weak points are. There are plenty of online tutors or websites providing help for those who are interested in taking practice SSAT tests, thus you will only have to find the most suitable institution for you.

3.      Duplicate the test’s environment Knowing the answers is not everything when dealing with your SSATs. SSAT are created to put the student under the time pressure and observe exactly how she or he handles the pressure. Thus, it is important to know your time management, and to stick to what is really important. Try duplicating your future test environment by taking a prep test in a quiet room, with a clock. Sit at a table throughout the test and do not stand up unless you are finished. When you will pass your SSAT prep test on time, you will be ready to take the big exam.

4.      Repeat the process at least two times in different weeks In order to make sure you handle the time pressure, repeat the test in different weeks. This way you will see for sure if you are truly ready for the test or, on the contrary, finishing the test in time was just a fortunate mistake.

5.      Learn the test’s format and structure Before heading to your big finals, learn that any SSAT test is structured in 3 different parts. Memorize the structure to know what you are expecting. Visiting the SSAT official website will give you important tips on how to handle the test better, and how to improve your scores.
